New York African Chorus Ensemble {NYACE} comprises of multiracial and multigenerational performers that sing inspiring traditional African songs. The NYACE promotes love, unity, peace, and healing. The choir started in 2004 and was founded by Joyce Adewumi, a talented singer, choreographer, scholar, and educator. NYACE has performed at such places as Good Morning America, BET, 1st Annual SACAIDS Humanitarian Award Gala & Reception, Museum of Natural History, NAACP 100th Year Anniversary, Harvard University, the Apollo Theatre and so many more.
We welcome people from 16 years of age to join New York African Chorus Ensemble. By joining the choir, you will have an opportunity to perform at amazing venues, meet amazing people, make new friends, have hands on training in music, develop your singing voice, and design flyers and create commercials. Other opportunities include have a chance to travel to Africa and get free food and name brand personal care and household items and so much more. The youth can grow within the program and learn skills to better their lives as future leaders in their community.

Membership in the organization gives everyone the opportunity to learn African songs, dances and instrumental playing techniques. In addition, through our workshops and seminars the community learns the cultural practices of specific ethnic groups in an African country further breaking down negative stereotypes and strengthening our communities.
Membership is open to both children and adults. Performing members must go through an audition.
Programs and activities are open to all people, regardless of age, race, ethnic, or religious background.
