A continuation of our Experience Africa program series rooted in Harlem.

WHAT IS THE CONTINUUM

The Continuum is an 8-week cultural program in Harlem bringing people together through movement, language, creativity, and shared cultural experiences.

It brings together:

  • Africa returnees 
  • Future travelers 
  • Artists, elders, parents, educators 

✨ No passport required. No DNA test required. Just openness.

MEET YOUR FACILITATORS

Ambassador Joyce Adewumi

Joyce Adewumi is a visionary cultural leader and founder of the New York African Chorus Ensemble, Inc., with decades of experience using the arts to unite communities and preserve African heritage. Through her leadership, she has created impactful multicultural programs across New York City that foster connection, understanding, and cultural pride.  She is a proud Nigerian American who has also trained and studied under His Imperial Spiritual Majesty Dr. Sola Atanda, gaining immersive cultural and tourism experience in Nigeria through authentic traditions, festivals, and continued study, and has produced the film We Are the Endless Roar.  Through this program, she will be your Yoruba language instructor, African music guide, and travel ambassador, leading participants in meaningful cultural exploration and exchange. Her work continues to create transformative spaces where culture, community, and creativity thrive.   

Maleeka Harris Atanda

  Maleeka Harris Atanda is Chief of Staff of NYACE and a creative producer with a strong background in dance and choreography. Through mentorship under Chief Joyce Adewumi and His Imperial Spiritual Majesty Dr. Sola Atanda, she has gained immersive cultural experience in Nigeria through authentic traditions, festivals, and continued study. She leads African-inspired movement and Yoruba based Sango dance classes, blending movement, story, and cultural insight for the community.

Program Details:

 Location: P.S. 210, 501-503 W 152nd St, NY, NY 10031 – C Level (on Amsterdam Ave)
Dates: March 27 – May 15
Schedule: Fridays & Sundays
Format: In-person
Cohort: Limited (25–30 participants) 

  • Please bring your ID to enter the school.
